Steve Camilleri has served as the executive director of the Center for the Homeless since 2004. Since opening its doors in 1988, the Center has been dedicated to its mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness, serving over 25,000 people and providing over 700,000 safe nights to guests. The Center relies heavily upon the generosity of local businesses and people who contribute their time and resources to support the Center's mission.
Dan Blacketor is the Director of Local Missions at Granger Community Church. In 2006, GCC's local missional outreach took a huge step by acquiring and renovating a community center in downtown South Bend. Before taking his current position, Dan oversaw both the programming and construction of the center as a volunteer leader in the church. Since taking on his current role, Dan has given his full-time attention to building volunteer leaders, forging community partnerships and relationships, and expanding programming that will have profound impact on not only the volunteers but the people they serve.
Representatives from Martin's Supermarkets, Crowe Horwath, and two non-profit organizations will reflect on how and why they make a difference locally. Hear about the partnerships they've formed to impact the community, and also how they've adapted to recent economic challenges.
A silent auction will be going on throughout the evening, with results announced at 6:45PM. A cash bar will also be available.
